A stunning seaside retreat for 16 in Rhoscolyn
Gather the clan and head down ancient hedgerows to this spacious seaside retreat for 16 in Rhoscolyn. Walk straight down to the sea in minutes for spectacular sunsets and pebble walking. It’s not just the location that’s special – Cil Y Gwynt has everything, so prepare to dazzled.
Perched not too far from Borthwen beach, your Bolthole is designed to make the most of the views. While the outside is wild and coastal, the inside is calmly serene and delicate. The first-floor living space is open-plan and dominated by those views. Scattered with sofas, armchairs, bookshelves and with a wood-burning stove, time ticks away spent simply gazing out of the window – it’s a magical setting in all weathers. Look out for seals and dolphins from the terrace or through binoculars.
The kitchen is a hi-tech gleam of everything you could need. Owner Sarah designed the house for big family gatherings or a party of friends. So there are pots large enough for lobsters, two dishwashers for efficient clean up after home-cooked dinners and pantry space to please.
With a handsome table for headland-view dining - this is a great place to gather for meals and the quality of light makes it a grand spot. Out on the balcony, for a BBQ fish supper, you can smell the sea on the wind. If the chef wants a night off, pop over the road to The White Eagle for local food and great ales, also with a view.
The playroom area keeps the children happy and if that gets dull, outside is ping pong or tennis on your very own court (shared with Llain Y Brenin next door). They may have to queue for the hot tub!
Bedrooms offer deep comfort. Six bedrooms are downstairs on the ground floor, and the remaining two are tucked away under the eaves on the second floor. Each has sumptuous linens and all are stunning. There are eight bathrooms all with underfloor heating and shiny – plenty of space to wash salty toes.
There’s a utility and foyer for lots of room for boots, wet togs and tackle – you can enjoy the seaside and walk your socks off whatever the weather.
The garden has a lovely terrace and swings for games too and a barbecue for summer nights. Stars fill the dark night sky here so gather round and enjoy!
