A peaceful log cabin for two near to Newborough Forest
A quirky Bolthole and a delight for couples looking for an eclectic, centrally based launchpad for adventures, with country walks and cycling from the door. Peacock Cabin sits in a sheep-dotted Anglesey landscape surrounded by wildlife. Horses chomp in the fields, peacocks parade and skylarks dart.
The clever use of materials within this beautiful log cabin which are mostly reclaimed, rescued and lovingly restored, makes this place unique.
A spacious bathroom with plump towels has a great rustic charm. The restful light-filled bedroom, with a beautifully turned-out bed beneath the vaulted ceiling and vibrant wallpaper, is a joy. This is a bed with views of the mountains of Snowdonia; on clear days, you can spot the sharp tip of Snowdon etched against the sky.
You get plenty of lounging space and a clever kitchen stocked well for the chef. An ample DVD collection and plenty of books and art on the walls combine to make a great retreat.
Few can resist the draw of Newborough Forest which is just down the road with an epic beach. If walking is not your thing, try sea kayaking (on loan from the owner) and fishing is easy to arrange locally.
Drink in the views on the sofa from the open veranda while the peacocks come to be nosy. On a clear night, you’ll get a breathtaking view of the stars.
The River Cefni is nearby and draws you in to explore its beauty by walking along the towpath to Malltraeth and visiting the local RSPB reserve on your way. Sit quietly by the river bank and watch out for the tufted ducks, shelduck, ringed plover and other waders, including little egrets. Otters rule here! Further along from the Estuary, you can walk along the Cob and join the Coastal Path to Newborough Forest where enchanting red squirrels thrive.
If you fancy surfing or swimming, there are many local beaches within easy reach of Peacock Cabin. Aberffraw, Rhosneigr and Newborough beach are all close by, along with some excellent restaurants and pubs such as Y Goron (The Crown) in Aberffraw and The Oyster Catcher near Rhosneigr.
It is almost eerily peaceful here. People come to write and read, or to bike and walk or to simply do nothing. Balm for the soul.
